Early Intervention
Speech Therapy
is the identification and treatment of articulation disorders, receptive or expressive language delays, social skills development, oral motor disorders, or feeding and swallowing issues that occur within the first 3 years of a child’s life. Research has shown that the first 3 years are a critical predictor of longterm communicative and cognitive skills.
Why is this? The brain is nearly 80% developed by the age of 3! Intervention that occurs within this critical window of development has been shown to enhance the child’s performance in many areas as they grow into adolescence. These areas include: reading, writing, verbal comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, behavior and social skills. Early detection and intervention are essential to achieving the most positive developmental outcomes.
